Beloved Infidel (1959), based on Sheilah Graham’s memoir about her romance with one of America’s greatest writers, F. Scott Fitzgerald, focuses on Fitzgerald’s last tormented years in Hollywood. Gregory peck stars as the once-celebrated author, struggling with creative, financial, and family turmoil, who finds a kind of salvation in a stormy yet tender love affair with an ambitious Hollywood columnist (Deborah Kerr). Directed by Henry King (Love Is a Many- Splendored Thing), with a sweeping lyrical score from Franz Waxman (available here as an isolated track).
